What can I put on the stamped engine block numbers to protect them from rust?

Re: Protecting the engine numbers
Jim,
A couple of thoughts on your question.
To keep natural surfaces from rusting, I like a product called PreLube 6 from Quanta. Comes in a spray can.
Thought two. When changing engine oil, one could take a dipped finger of clean motor oil and apply it to the stamp pad. Assuming that you change oil at regular intervals, no rust should occur.

Also, you can grind off the pad so that there is good tooth for paint and paint the pad with rust preventative paint. Make sure you get rid of those pesky numbers that interfere with a good smooth finish.... :-)- Top
