Could someone tell me about the steering mast jacket area under the dash, whether there is a covering over the expansion metal section of the column. My 67 is an early production date Nov 1,66 build and there is no covering. If there is a covering that should surround the lower mast jacket area, than what type of material is it and possibly a supplier that i could purchase it from.

My '67 is a later car, and has that section fully covered with a black plastic sleeve that's tapered at both ends. -

My '67 coupe built Dec. 19th, 1966 has the same black plastic covering that John speaks about. It covers the 'webbed' metal, lower column and has small tabs that were heat-melted to hold the covering together. I haven't seen it listed anywhere. You might call Dave Sokolowski at (310)329-5334 in the Southern Los Angeles area. His sarcastic personality is a bit off, but he's got more used parts then anyone I know.

My October 66 car has it to. there is also a metal wiring cover. The wiring cover and I think the plastic covers are available at LI corvettes.
