Re: C-1 59 Help Needed
Jerry - On my '58, both hood latch cables come thru the firewall at one grommet, below and just outboard of the master cylinder. There was a thread some months back about this, I think it may have changed in later years. Here's my photo link:

Re: C-1 59 Help Needed
Al, that is how they exit the firewall on my Jan '59 car (one hole) but I don't believe it is correct. According to the '58 AIM (supposedly the same for early '59) the driver's side exits as shown in your pic, but the pass side exits a little more inboard and a little lower. Almost in the center of the firewall (behind the distributer) there should be a clip. About 6 or 8" to the driver's side of the clip, just as the indented part of the firewall curves around, you should find the cable exit hole. It is there on my car and I plan to correct that when I pull the motor this winter. Oh...and that clip...it supports the release cable. If you or Jerry would like a fax copy of the aim, send me your fax number. I asked this same question about a year ago and a forum member faxed the page to me.- Top

Re: C-1 59 Help Needed
Pat - I'm emailing you a copy of a thread on the board from 3 years ago, that I also had emailed to Jerry. There were several differing opinions; at least for '58, I decided to stick with the "both in one grommet" approach. I think my '58 AIM sheet is dated much olater than my car (Oct. 57). Regards, ...
