C3 1968 427 Block - Dipstick Tube Leak

I found a leaking dipstick tube, so I took an o-ring from an assortment, slid it up to the "shoulder" and re-installed the tube. Now not as bad, but still squirts oil out.

I've seen a drawing that indicates the o-ring should be a "seal", but the guy (the experienced owner) at the parts store says he's never seen or used one.

What would fix this problem? Thanks

Assuming that neither the dipstick tube nor the tube in the pan are significantly distorted, I would recommend that you use the special seal designed for this application. You can obtain one at your GM dealer under GM #274244. That's also exactly the same seal that was used for your application when it was originally installed at St. Louis.
