    '66 Fan shroud paint question

    Hi,

    When were the fan shrouds installed at the factory? I have an original that has factory primer overspray under the black that has worn off and I was wondering what the steps were for installation and painting.

      Ian,

      The fan shroud was in a totally different area of the assembly plant when your Corvette body was primed/painted so there should be no primer or body color on it. The shroud was painted black prior to installation.

          agree with mike. oftertimes one will find broadcast labels under the black paint. underneath the labels is raw glass. mike

              Sprayed mine with GM Restoration black. Any not too shiny semi gloss will work. Installed the shroud before I dropped the body back on to the frame.
