I hear you, Tom. The problem was that the NWS goes with periodic checks of winds and direction and when it that close to land, they need much more frequent checks. I was holding off to bail until it hit Tampa (sorry, Michael) because then I knew the probability of hitting here was much higher than the 50% we had all day.
Of course, no one in Florida is ever safe from a hurricane until it has moved way, way past them. Once they go to the Carolinas, Georgia, or Louisiana, we can consider ourselves safe. Until then, none of us are.
