    Re: Crude indeed

That indentation has smooth molded edges and rounded corners on my '67 (and on other original 67's I've seen).

Gary, check your AIM in "Front End Sheet Metal" section (UPC11/13 for 70) for instructions of such a cut on appropriate pages dealing with front end fiberglass. On C3s, several such cuts were made on the body, but not without clear direction. I'll bet the cut is documented somewhere in the 66 AIM.

Firewall cut-outs are an obvious example, but on C3s there is also an area on right front fender vertical flange inside the wiper compartment that was roughly hand cut. In spite of detailed instruction, these cuts are typically not identical (UPC11/13, SheetA2).

The knotches in the lower valence panel is not rough cut, but has moulded edges on it. Sometimes there is a little flashing there which looks rough. As for what it is for, Who Knows? There is no logical reason that I can think of. It is there on both BB and SB cars.

Chuck; it's not in the AIM

Well, it's going to take a better man than I to find it in the AIM. I don't think it's there.
