Is it reasonably possible to install an instrument cluster into a NEW dash pad without removing some of the foam backing in the immediate area?

Re: C1 60 Dash Pad
wayne: you are correct in that dash pads available in the aftermarket arena(al knock, eckler etc) required a considerable amount of carving of foam in the past but i heard that the latest offering require little or no foam removal. guess it depends on when the pad was manufactured. mike- Top

Re: C1 60 Dash Pad
Trey, I installed a new al Knoch pad in my 1960 last November. The quantity of foam that needs to be removed is minimal on the new pads, but I still had to remove some so the cluster would fit as snug as it needed to; otherwise, the bolt holes may not line up. If you can get the vertical bolt holes to line up the way it is, you will be fine. The extra foam usually prevents the bolt holes from lining up.- Top
