C3...Replacing door hinge spring

I received a new spring this morning from UPS from MAD. There are no instructions on how to replace it.
Does anyone have a simple method to doing this? I played with it for about 20 minutes, but there is something I'm missing. Do you put the bottom in first or the top in first? I looked at the other door and see how it goes, but I can't figure out how it goes into the "torque " position

Also, when replacing the spring, note whether the "star wheel" which articulates with the spring turns freely. If it doesn't, the new spring will be short lived.

Larry ...I went looking on that website and couldn't find the installation article. I looked in the Exterior section and couldn't find it........
