    67 spare tire cariier bolts

What is the correct length and type of bolt for the spare tire carrier. I am using the Repro Goodyear Power cushion whitewall tire 7.75 x 15. Do they have the welded nut or the upset shoulder on the front ones? And is the length on the front 9.25" or 10.25" with the rear being either 7" or 8". Also, when the spare tire tub tray is closed, does it close tightly or is there a +/- 1" gap showing a little bit of the tire?

    Thanks,

    Keith

      Keith,
Mike is correct that Paragon does a good job of answering this question.

However as a data point, I just measured the bolts on my '65. The spare is a 7.75x15 (mounted on a steel wheel) and the front bolts are approx. 9 1/8" long with an upset shoulder and lock washer. The rear bolt is 7".

When the tire carrier is completely closed the lid fits nicely in the tub recess. No gap or portion of the tire is showing. This does raise an interesting question though. If the tire is fatter, the bolts get longer, and since the tubs are all the same depth, maybe you would see some portion of the tire? Perhaps someone more knowledgeable can comment.

      Hope this helps.

      Regards,
      Gene

        Keith,

I presently have a 215/65 Goodyear in the tub and have the longest bolts available and I can just see the tire on the lock end of the tub when I'm on my knees with my head under the car.

The paragon book lists only one for 67 and it says with gold or redline tires. What about whitewalls?

BW & WW are the same width...Redline is wider. *NM*
