    Re: Zaino Wax

If you bought the Zaino for clear coat paint, you aren't supposed to use it on a non-clear coat paint job. They sell a different one for that.

      Re: Zaino Wax

I was very impressed by the results I obtained using the #5 and #2 polish's.

My paint color is a dark blue, and what I have gleaned on other sites, this product works best on the darker hue's. But, hey, I am only 50 years of age.

This I feel disqualifies me from having any opinion here. LOL

Try it, you will like it!

You probably don't know the satisfaction of Blue Coral cleaner and sealer, like we used in the '50s.

I haven't tried Zaino but I use the Meguires cleaner/polish/wax three step stuff on my cars and I find it hard to beat. That includes clear coat and the laquer on my 49 Chev PU. I also like that Meguires does a lot to support the old car hobby and seems to care about giving us good products for our special needs. They support us. I support them.

            Re: Meguires Support

I learned, 30+ years ago, that Butch Meguire was always good for $500 to any drag racer on his uppers if the racer would just put a Meguire decal on the car. Didn't matter if you were a winner or not; he just supported the automotive hobby.

              Re: Meguires Support

I have a black ZR-1 that had looked like the car was washed with 400 grit sandpaper (small circular scratches in the clear coat). I tried Mother's, and then Maguire's products, called their "hot lines", etc. Never quite got it all out. Finally decided to try Zaino's after re-clay barring. I have to agree that the Zaino is a bit of a PITA with one coat of this, dry for four hours, one coat of that dry for four hours, spray this, another coat of that, wipe vertical surfaces vertically, Horizontal surfaces from front to back, then repeat ad nauseum as I recall. BUT - this was the ONLY product that got 99% of those fine scratches out. It was a tremendous improvement over the other things I had tried, even mildly abrasive polishes. The car looked outstanding. Note that this is a very pampered 91 with 13000 miles on the clock. Not an oxidized, neglected finish. In my case it was well worth the effort.

I would highly reccomend the product for this situation of fine clear coat scratches, assuming you have some time on your hands. I did mine over the course of a couple week ends. Do yourself and get an orbital polisher or you'll end up with triceps like Arnold . . .

Have not tried any of this on the 65, but it is Ermine White CC so it's no where near as critical as the black beast. Nothing like a black car, in my opinion, but somewhat of a PITA to keep it looking great. Even if never exposed to rain, covered in the garage, etc.

I don't agree with the comments regarding spray on touch up cleaner (like quick detailer). For an infrequently driven car that does not see rain and is kept garaged and covered (typical NCRS member's car, I believe), I have found a california car duster and quick detailer keeps both cars sparkling clean in about 5 minutes each. But use good towels and change them frequently. The idea with a quick detailer like product is to remove light dust and dirt, not clean a "dirty" car. Did I mention to use good towels for all of these activities and change to clean ones frequently?

I've used it and have found no difference compared to anything else over the counter, except a tremendous amount of work involved. There is only one product I do use now. PINNACLE SOUVERAN. It's a little expensive but after using it I honestly would pay $1,000.00 for it if I had to. Seriously, everyone has their own opinion but I would bet my 1982 Collector Edition w 11,000 orig. miles on it that this is the best product out there. www.pinnacle.com

The only product to ever touch my 66,67 and 89 is LIQUID GLASS. It's easy on and easy off. The 66 is lacquer and the other two are clear coated. Many coats over time has these cars looking like they were just painted and well protected from stone chips and acid rain. It's not easy to find anymore, but I see from their ads in old Corvette magazines that the product was widely used and endorsed by many Corvette owners in years gone by. I've never seen a lacquer shine that looked better than LIQUID GLASS.

Geezer - at 49, I must fall into that young whipper-snapper category (sure don't feel like it!). I remember blue coral, I thought from the 70's though, was it around then????...Craig
