Has anyone used Zaino wax, and what do you think about it?

Re: Zaino Wax
I plan to try it on my 1960 as soon as the mechanics get the engine back in it. The only cars I have ever seen it used on were new Dodge Vipers which didn't seem to need it anyway. Zaino makes the finish look like liquid glass. It would not be the type of finish you would want for NCRS judging.- Top

Re: Zaino Wax
I bought a kit about 2 years ago. I bought the pre-cleaner, the polish, and the swirl remover. Cost me $50.00 with shipping. It did nothing for my Corvette with a 13 year old enamel paint job. So I tried it on my 1990 Dodge truck, it did nothing. So I tried it on my wife's 1994 Dodge Intrepid, again it did nothing. I suppose if the paint on your car was in bad shape, it would help it, but so would any other wax or polish, except you wouldn't have to do it 6 times, using certain towels, at a certain relative humidity, during a full moon with a crosswind. Other people swear by the stuff, I swear at it. Threw it in the trash. Good old Meguires for me.

Re: Zaino Wax
I also have tried it. I couldn't tell a noticeable difference between Zaino and Maguiers 'Show Polish', which I had been using. For the difference in price, I'll skip the Zaino. The Show Polish really does a great job on older finishes as well as newer, in my humble opinion. Plus, you can buy it at the auto box stores rather than mail order for Zaino.- Top

Re: Zaino Wax
I have used Meguires for years on all my cars. Looks great and lasts. It is my understanding that yellow Carnuba Wax is the best for cars, which is what Meguires is. If you need polish or stain remover, they make products for these as well. They also work well.
As mentined, you can buy Meguires almost anywhere.- Top

Re: Zaino Wax
Mike,
Everyone will have their personal favorites. For cars that are not regular drivers my favorite combo is 3M Imperial Hand Glaze to prepare the paint for waxing and then waxing with Harly #1 yellow carauba paste wax. Both are easy to use and give outstanding results. I also might add that the results of any product are based on the experience and the knowledge of the person doing the work. I've also found the Porter Cable polisher to be the best and safest machine polisher to use for those who prefer some mechanical help.- Top

Re: Zaino Wax
I am using 3M Finish Restorer, and love it. I have also been impressed with Meguire's waxes, although their Quik Detailer (for that quick once over at the car show) is a waste of money. I have never heard of Zaino, but if it is $50 and requires mail order, forget it.

Re: Zaino Wax
I've used the Zaino "system" for a couple of years and it really does a great job.
Lasts a long time and really gives a great shine.

Re: Zaino Wax
I recently bought the Zaino kit and followed their instructions by removing any wax on the finish by washing the car with Dawn dish washing soap. I applied the first step of the Zaino products and it immediately looks better than anything else in the past that I've tried, including McGuires. I'll be curious to see what the next 2 applications steps of the Zaino products further improve the looks of the black finish. Granted, the Zaino product was applied on my original 1987 Buick Grand National with the bad 80's black 16 year-old factory paint. The car really looks great. Can't say what it might do on my red '64 Corvette, but I'll do a comparison between the Zaino and probably the 3M products and see which looks best.

Re: Zaino Wax
My two cents. If you have a great paint job you can use almost anything to shine it up. I noticed no difference between Zaino and other polish/waxes. All produce a brilliant shine. One thing I did notice and liked is that the Zaino polish on my 70 didn't collect dust when the car sat in the gargage like the other products.- Top

Re: Zaino Wax
I've used both Maguiers and Zaino (as well as a variety of others) on my 15-year-old enamel paint on my '57. Both products did a good job. I think the Zaino requires a little more work. The documentation/instructions that come with Zaino cause one to expect more from the product and thereby biases the observer. I think too that the Zaino product for whatever reason has attained an almost cult-like following. I just don't see that big a difference.
