GM fan blade assembly #3993889 was NOT originally used for a 1972 Corvette with 454 and A/C AND "D72" IS a date code. How can that be? Well, there was such a fan blade assembly as GM #3993889 and it was being produced for SERVICE in 1972 (and, quite awhile thereafter).
GM #3993889 is a SERVICE replacement fan blade assembly applicable to 1970 Corvettes with 454 and A/C. It replaced the original unit used for 1970 with 454 and A/C, GM #3969926, when that part was discontinued in November, 1970.
The GM #3993889 will have a 2-3/8" OD center hole and a 3" bolt circle for the fan clutch attaching studs.
The GM #3992095, used for 71-73 with 454 and A/C, has a 2-5/8" OD center hole and a 3-1/4" bolt circle.
You can use the GM #3993889 for your application, but you will also have to use a 70-style fan clutch and you will have to have a water pump hub that is dual-drilled for both fan clutch mounting bolt patterns. You likely already have the latter.
