I'm a little confused about the proper configuration for the vacuum advance line on a base engine 66 coupe. The Judging manual states that the vacuum advance line has a black hose, with the qualifying comment that the L79 has a chrome line as well. The AIM indicates a combination of chrome and rubber hose for the base engine. Which is correct? Thanks

Re: C-2 Vacuum Advance
Tom and John-----
If I recall correctly, for 1966 both 300hp and 350 hp used a chrome vacuum advance line, although there may have been exceptions. The line coming of the carburetor had a short section of hose, then the u-shaped metal line. On the right side of the engine this transitioned to a rubber line which connected to the distributor vacuum control.
For 1967, I don't think that any of these vacuum tubes were chromed. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Re: C-2 Vacuum Advance
John,
If you get no other definitive answers today, I can take a look tonight for some photos I took of my 66 L79 before I dismantled it earlier this year. I do recall there being a chrome line, but I can't remember off the top of my head how it interfaces with the carb on one end and the vacuum advance on the other.

Re: C-2 Vacuum Advance
Gary - the judging manual indicates that the L79 did have the chrome line. My confusion is whether or not the 327/300 used an all rubber line, or a set up similar to what you have. Joe's comments agree with what is shown in the AIM but do seem to contradict the judging manual.

L79; Vacuum Advance line
John,
My L79 has a rubber hose from the vacuum advance to just before the metal clip on the intake manifold. At that point the line is chrome and then swithes back again just before attaching to the carb. Sounds like L79's had the chrome section and the 300 HP cars had a steel section.
