    Stephen,

Last change was 2,5 years ago and like I stated above, we had no real choice here...

      Steve,

It was February 2008 since the last upgrade to the Technical Discussion Board. We have added a few features to it over the years but they were all created to make it easier to use.

Since this version of the software is fairly new we will be adding features to it over the next few months. We have already added five new features since we installed it Tuesday. These have all been features that members wanted. We will continue to install features that we feel will make the board easier to use or to add features that members may appreciate.

One feature is to make the forum more accessible by smart phones. Who would have thought 5 years ago that members would be accessing the forum from their phones but more and more of them are doing it.

I find the forum posts more difficult to read now (particularly when scanning down through the various topics). Perhaps it's the color/contrast and spacing between topics?

Kudos to John, Rob, Gary and any of the other NCRS "tech team" in getting the new version up and running. IMO yes we were all familar with the old version but as was pointed out the change was not an "option". Yes, I like many others were comfortable with the old version and it will take some getting used too. But we are not the ones behind the scenes dealing with keeping the site running smoothly. You either change with it or one morning you wake up to log into the TBD and end up in some knitting forum (nothing against knitters)!! Look at it like buying a new car, you gotta figure out what button does what. Times are changing, 20 years ago did you even imagine starting a car with the key still in your pocket??

                Ed,

Those Icons are still available. You can still click on the year you want and it will sort on that year. There is an issue that if you go to the second page the sort breaks and we are working to resolve that again. It was resolved until we resolved something else that unresolved that one. We will get there. Be patient.

Can anybody tell me the difference between a red envelope next to a thread and a blue envelope next to a thread. I couldn't find any reference to the envelope anywhere.

                    Thanks.

                        Dennis,

Your are right about the next and previous selections. They are the same as they were in the Old TDB and I thought they were confusing then. I think what they are supposed to mean is that in Chronological order the Previous post was posted earlier than the Next post which is newer. When you are looking at the forum you are looking at the newest threads at the top of the page so previous is the next one down the page and next is the next one up the page. Are you more confused yet?

I don't know if it's a new feature or if we could do it on the old board, but I love being able to sort based on the Post Icons (C3, 70/72, etc.). I wouldn't have known about that unless someone had commented about it earlier in this thread.

                            Thanks.

Your right, real confused! I think I will solve that by not thinking about it at all. I just work backwards. Thanks for the insight.

                                Ken,

That feature has been around for quite a while. Take 10 minutes and read the FAQ. You would be surprised at all of the features you may find.
