    Re: Restorer Index

    Gary:
Thanks for the update. I am up to 2004 and I really am doing this for my own benefit but will be happy to share with any and all so I am going to complete the project. If others come up with a more sophisticated, searchable index then that would be great. I truly don't want to step on anyone's toes or offend ANYONE! I have included every article written including financial reports and meet reports (Chapter, Regional, and National). I did not include President's reports, etc, since we all know there is one in every issue and the subjects of each article could cover many topics.

      Re: Restorer Index

      Hi Jeff,
      Thanks for the update!
Here's a thought for you.... just imagine if all the VIN numbers from ALL the 'cars for sale' in THE DRIVELINE issues (including the early single and double sheets that were part of THE RESTORER mailings) could be entered into a SEARCHABLE data base!!!!!
Wouldn't THAT be interesting to current and past owners for many different reasons!!!!!
      Regards,
      Alan

        Alan:
That is an interesting idea and I'm sure would be helpful to someone searching for previous owners, etc. When can you start!!? Seriously, it would be a daunting task and take a very long time. My copy of the index is almost done- I will finish adding entries this afternoon and can then proof read and format. I will keep you updated.

NCRS has this service available. Roy Sinor is taking care of this...

I wasn't aware the NCRS Authentication Service included The Driveline cars for sale ads. I thought it was only for cars judged by NCRS.

I am aware of two NCRS members who have recorded ALL the VINs and serial numbers in The Driveline cars for sale ads, but as far as I know that data is not available to the membership, or the public.

              Terry,

You are right, I was referring to the Authentication service not all the cars ever on sale in the Driveline. Sorry...

PS we are investigating updating the Restorer index to include the newer issues and how to maintain it in the future...

              regards,
              Rob

I guess the data could be could be handled in many ways.
Two that first come to mind would be just the VIN and the issue it appeared in (no help to those without a complete set of THE DRIVELINE) or the VIN, issue number, AND description.
Then of course, we could do the same with the Parts for Sale.... that would make everyone crazy. Can you imagine being contacted about a part you sold 30 years ago?
Having fun playing with (and thinking about) old cars.
                Regards,
                Alan
