    Re: Nicb Vs Ncrs

The NICB information is pretty much identical to what the NCRS is currently providing. There is nothing in the NICB data that provides the names of previous owners of a particular vehicle. You might get some of that information by doing a title search through a state's DMV. Unfortunately, a lot of states only keep records for about ten years.

It doesn't make any since any of the reasons not to release the info on the classic cars. NICB only has the shipping info. How is that such a guarded secrete all these years later as far as theft. Now if a 60s model was stolen in 80 it would show up that way.
And there are no owner names so I don't see a privacy issue. They just are not interested. Seems like money should talk in this economy. If they got 10 thousand request at $100 a pop would that get their attention? I mean NCRS records are just vettes. But if you had all cars and trucks you would have a lot more people interested.

        Re: NICB -VS- NCRS

Boy it's amazing how you can go in the "WRONG DIRECTION" for EIGHT YEARS!! In 2002 I received information(from a "contact" at NICB) that my 1963 Corvette was delivered to HUMPHREY CHEVROLET(dealer code 279 in zone 11), Evanston, IL and a production date of 11-28-1962?? This production date of 11-28-1962 didn't make sence because my 63' was built between the 1st & 2nd week of Jan 1963, but I figured that was just a typo. So for EIGHT YEARS I have put an ad in the NCRS DRIVELINE, etc., requesting any info on this HUMPHREY CHEVROLET dealership.
Well "THANK YOU" NCRS(and Roy Sinor)....the NCRS Shipping Data Report gave me a COMPLETELY DIFFERENT DEALER and PRODUCTION DATE!! The CORRECT dealer was EVANS CHEVROLET(dealer code 190 in zone 15),Drexel Hill, PA and a production date of Jan 14th 1963!!. This current information goes along with some previous information that I had that stated that the "2ND OWNER" lived in the Drexel Hill/Broomall, PA area!!

Gary Iam told it only shows selling dealer info, date and invoice number. Phil 8063

You are so correct Dick. And in the old days it was still difficult to get info from NICB.
