I recently purchased a 1967 Corvette. I just received the NCRS shipping report and it states that the car was sold at Downtown Chevrolet in Minneapolis, MN. Since I am from Pennsylvania I have no background knowledge about this dealer. If anyone could advise me on some strategies on how I could uncover the history of this car I would appreciate it. Hey Alan- I've mentioned this info previously:
When I learned about my original selling dealer (in the late 1980's), I took it upon myself to do the legwork... and even back then, not much info was available. Since Google didn't even exist, I wrote letters, made long distance phone calls, took out ads in the appropriate local newspapers, worked with the local Chamber of Commerce and sent 'flyers' to their annual car show, etc... after a few years, I successfully found the original owner.
Today, the search process is somewhat easier (especially with the internet)... but many years have passed, and so the leads may be minimal. You can learn more about the original dealer... perhaps via their local library, or getting a subscription to NEWSPAPERS.com (they may still have monthly subscriptions). What about all the local Corvette Clubs in that area, Facebook groups in that area, or even NCRS Chapters... have you tried any of those contacts?

You help me on my 67 years ago dealing with seq # on the tank sticker.
I read your post ( Aug 25) about the car dealerships research and was successful in learning a lot of information on the dealership-thanks to your guidance.
Come to find out the dealership was so small it only got allocated 30 units a YEAR and would not order a Corvette unless someone paid for it first. The son of the D owner could not remember any Corvettes his stepdad ordered in 67. The car I have sold in April.
Found the add in the newspaper when the 2nd owner sold the car in 1972 to the owner I bought the car from in 1983.Spent time with that owner and was able to get a lot of info. Good Followship.
Thank you for help

WONDERFUL... nice to hear you were able to discover more of your Corvette history.
BTW- I'm still actively working on the SEQ #... adding the few others we discover, to a spreadsheet. We still don't know 'exactly' what the Tank Sticker notation represented, but the relationship with SEQ 'month' and 'Expected Date of Production' is still holding true.- Top
