I recently purchased a 1967 Corvette. I just received the NCRS shipping report and it states that the car was sold at Downtown Chevrolet in Minneapolis, MN. Since I am from Pennsylvania I have no background knowledge about this dealer. If anyone could advise me on some strategies on how I could uncover the history of this car I would appreciate it. Hey Alan- I've mentioned this info previously:
When I learned about my original selling dealer (in the late 1980's), I took it upon myself to do the legwork... and even back then, not much info was available. Since Google didn't even exist, I wrote letters, made long distance phone calls, took out ads in the appropriate local newspapers, worked with the local Chamber of Commerce and sent 'flyers' to their annual car show, etc... after a few years, I successfully found the original owner.
Today, the search process is somewhat easier (especially with the internet)... but many years have passed, and so the leads may be minimal. You can learn more about the original dealer... perhaps via their local library, or getting a subscription to NEWSPAPERS.com (they may still have monthly subscriptions). What about all the local Corvette Clubs in that area, Facebook groups in that area, or even NCRS Chapters... have you tried any of those contacts?
