    Blue Certification Label

Exactly where on the driver's side door does the blue cert. label go? Need to reattach mine. Thanks Paul

I doubt that these labels were placed with extreme precision, but here's where it was placed on my 1969.

There is no EXACTLY where. They were placed by humans, and they are all over the place.

There are three unpainted phillips head screws holding the door lock mechanism. Anyplace outboard of the upper screw is fine. I have seen them anywhere from the screw being even with the top of the label to being even with the bottom of the label -- and there might even be some above or below that screw. Just slap it on there anywhere and be happy.

I personally would like to extend my personnel thanks to Joe & Terry. I have meant to post this before but always seem to forget. I don't know what I would do without the help and knowledge you both bring to this board. You are what the NCRS is all about--cooperation and the sharing of knowledge!!!!

          Paul,
Just put a blind fold on, spin around ten times and see where it lands!

I've seen the labels placed at an angle.

              Re: Blue Certification Label

The placement of this label changed over the years so not all who read this should use the location in Joe's picture if they have a different year Corvette. In 73 the label was placed just under the top screw for the lock theft gaurd that is at the very top of the picture in the area of the wedge which was not used by 1973. The tire pressure label was placed below it and to the left in the area where Joes blue label is. When placing this label a check of a few original year cars of the same year and the AIM could save you a headache.

Good point Lyle. My answer was predicated on my looking at Paul's profile and seeing he has a 1971 Corvette. The tire pressure sticker is installed in a different location on 1968-1972 Corvettes so my answer -- and I expect Joe's as well -- was based on that era. As you wisely point out the location did change over time, and others reading this should do their own research for their application.

What year did the Blue GM Certification Label show itself? Was it from the beginning in '53?
                  Just curious....

                    Re: Blue Certification Label

The label first appeared after September 1, 1969. Not only did placement of them change with the years but also the printed font and information on them.

My 70 appears a little more to the left than the one posted above.

                        Hi Paul,
Here's a picture of the label on my 71, January built coupe. The label is in the original location (I painted around it). The worker putting them on this day got it pretty straight.
                        Regards,
                        Alan

Thanks Allen--nothing like a picture--especially showing the whole door---makes it easy to figure out exact location.

Also out of curiosity, Are the identification number/letters alignment erratic on some of the labels? My 72's label looks like the type writer might have had a misfire while being typed.
