Test filesize limits for pdf's AND test UPLOAD from URL

Upload is not working from outside URL, using "Upload from URL".

Now try a pdf from local device, my PC. This worked via below button "Upload Attachments".

    Try via URL again......

    This link....

No. It never loads. It never shows status bars that it's loading. No acknowledgement.

      Try via Upper Right button(paperclip)

That button brings up the lower buttons. Didn't know that.

Try a local file from the PC, 7mb, via "Upload Attachments".

        This works ok.

Lets try that DOC file again using the same method as last post......

                This file: https://file-examples.com/wp-content...mple_100kB.doc

                Use "IMAGE" box....
ERROR. It's expecting a image file extension, so it won't work. "!!! This is not a valid image file".

                  Richard,

We don't allow Doc files as they can contain macros that can lead to viruses or malware.

I will take a look at settings to see if there is something off.

                    Thanks John.

I submitted a ticket earlier regarding the pdf(or any non-image file) "Upload from URL" errors.

FWIW, there could be a security issue with uploading files from URL's whereas uploading from a device theoretically has been screened for virus contamination.

                        Richard,

I was able to upload files from a URL using the picture Icon. Here is the URL. Just a random tax document in PDF format. https://www.in.gov/dor/files/reference/dn03.pdf

                        dn03.pdf

Here are the setting I used to make it work.

                          John,

Ok, yes I know using the "picture button" works, but my experiments were using the "Upload from URL" button at the bottom of the edit page. It doesn't work. I think other users will have the same issues. If one wants to upload a document file, pdf, etc, they may not be aware they have to use the "picture button", as it's a bit misleading.

This is what comes up with "Upload from URL" button...... When a file of any type is entered, after clicking the OK key, it does nothing.
