    Power Brake Booster (1965-67)

I am trying to identify a power brake booster. This part was on my 1967 when i acquired it. It was removed to restore to original manual brake set up. The mechanic removing the booster suggested it was for a 1965 car. I see 2 tabs on the booster located 180 degrees apart. One of them has some numbers on the underside as follows "5867". I see no other numbers on this tab or the other tab.

Questions are: what do these numbers mean? should i see any other numbers? how can i be certain which model year this booster belongs to and confirm that it is an original part?

Thank you in advance for any responses.

The "5867" are the last 4 numbers of the GM#5455867 part number for a 1967 Corvette booster. Sometimes the other tab will have a Julian date code but not always.

Page is correct, the 5867 is the 67 only Corvette booster. Typically you will see a Julian date on opposite tab. I think the part number for 66 booster was 7011. Regards....ARA

The '67 booster was a one-year-only part because '67 was the ONLY year where the same exact master cylinder (casting #5455509, stamped "DC", with a DEEP hole in the rear piston) was used for both manual AND power brakes; as a result, the 5867 booster came with a "long" booster-to-master cylinder pushrod. Other boosters came with the "short" booster-to-master cylinder pushrod, as their master cylinders were all built with a "shallow" hole in the rear piston. Note item #4, master cylinder piston rod, on the booster diagram below and the matching "deep" hole in the rear piston.
