    E69 Air Cleaner Silk Screen

Which of these would be considered more typical for an early '69 L36?

Let's call the first one #1 and the second #2

I like the shape of #1, but there is something about the text that puzzles me.

      Terry,

I'll bite. What puzzles you about the text?

Below is a photo of an original lid from a 1966 Corvette 327 air cleaner (w/1966 only base). The text appears to be the same as Floyd's #1 photo.

            Floyd,
My original lid from my Oct. '68 car is like your second photo- the silkscreen is not curved.

Now the question is: When did the change from #1 to #2 take place?

                  Gary,

For some reason, my picture and your picture look almost identical.

Funny, I forgot that you took some pics of mine. Will you be going to Bloomington or Kansas city next month?

Not sure about the Corvette, but on the first generation Camaro the change occurred somewhere between the 4th week of April (04D) and the 4th week of May (05D), 1968. I would imagine the change hit all models at the same time, but no proof.

                      HERE'S more info.

Re: E69 Air Cleaner Silk Screen

Unfortunately, I cannot. I was sent back to PA last June and I'm still here. I was really, really planing on having my LT4 ready for Howey and Kissimmee this year but both projects are on hold - again.
So I sit in this corp. apartment 850 miles from my toys and search for parts. The silver lining in this cloud is that Carlisle is about 90 minutes away. That gives me Spring Carlisle, GM Nationals (next weekend), Corvettes@Carlisle (swap meet creme a la creme) and Fall Carlisle. I really do need to start attending the National Conventions but I only have so many vacation days per year and I burn one week on Kissimmee and Mecum every year so I can't ask much more of my wife. However, I think that's going to change because she just bought the '73 L48 from my son and wants to start getting involved in judging and completing the restoration of her car. He wanted to sell it to raise money for a down payment on his first house and my wife just couldn't bare to let it leave the family - since she did 60% of the work on our first frame-on resto that made it a decent driver.

Again, thanx for all your help over the years. I have learned a ton from you and your car as you've taken it through the process. I can't tell you how much aggravation and money you have saved me.

I guess it helps when you have the same car in the same color
