    67 Seat Install

I'm in the process of replacing the old carpets in my coupe, my question has to do with the wheather or not the seat frame bolts over the carpet or should you cut a flap in the carpet so the seat frame sits on the fiberglass ? Who ever installed these simply bolted them on top of the rugs. I believe that I need to cut a flap that would cover over the bolt heads fron & rear

    Any help would be great.

    Thanks

    Al Burton

I'll take a picture of my '67 Coupe when I get home, but, if memory serves, the seat frame sits on top of the carpet and is bolted thru the frame, thru the carpet...frame and bolts show...no flaps.

Al, There is a very good diagram in the new 67 judging manual for the carpet cuts at the seat frame installation points. YES, there should be flaps to cover the seat track mounting tabs. Good luck, Joe

          Joe

Thanks, I though that the frame sat on the fiberglass. If I remember correctly the front flap opens towrds the fornt of the car and the rear mount flaps open toward the sides. The AIM manual didn't have anything & I ordered the filth edition of the 67 judging manual this week.

          Thanks Again

Thanks for your effort, worked on these cars for almost 20 years (about 20 years ago) and still can't remember for sure.

I think the pix is wrong, all the bolts are covered with a flap, they all hinge on the inside.

The current judging manual clearly shows the typical factory installation of seats with the carpet cut with flaps.
If you wish to emulate factory installation, do s the manual shows, if this is not important to you place track on
top of carpet. Its not right or wrong, its what you want.

Right there on page 44. I've been reading the new TIM&JG and I'm up to page 154...must have totaling missed the diagram. If I were to take the seat out now and cut the flaps there would be a hole in the flap right where the bolt currently resides. My car is an extremely nice #1 driver that will probably never be judged so I may just leave it as is...it sure doesn't affect my enjoyment one bit Thanks, Jaime

Thanks, I've ordered the Judging manual but it hasn't come yet. My intention is to bring the car back to factory spec's so I'll cut the flaps

I've ordered the manual as well, Looks like you have Teal interior ? If you do that's what I have, where did your carpet come from? I found it hard to get the right combination of color & pile loop. Any chance you could post a picture of the install as I'm working on re-installing the seats this weekend ? Thanks

Second look appears black. Easier to get correct looking pipe in black no so with teal. My judging manual came today and it shows great detail to cut the flaps. Off to wok

                            Thanks again
