Mid-year - how to remove glue that was holding carpet down

Hi all,

I am getting ready to paint my 66. I have pulled most of the carpet out of the interior. I scraped most of the insulation off as well. I am left with some glue. What is the best way to remove it?

I have used 3M weather-strip adhesive remover with good success. Lacquer thinner would work also and won't hurt the fiberglass. Either of these with a Scotchbrite pad should do the trick.

Be sure to wear gloves and work in a well-ventilated area.

I tried chemicals, took way too long. I used a cupped 3 in. wire wheel on my right angle air grinder with a very light touch.
It didn't take much time to do it this way.
