    63 horn switch

When I look at the AIM for 1963 steering assembly (see attached picture) it seems like the horn switch is mounted from the rear bu when I try to do this it would not fit through the white plastic shield (marked 21). mounting it from the steering wheel site would make much more sense, it would fit just fine. Is this a mistake on the AIM sheet or was the design changed in time (I have a late July 1963 built car)?

    Rob,
The item you have marked is the horn brush which resides inside the steering wheel hub. It is installed from the steering wheel side as it has a rim around the top that fits nicely into the groove in the hub! When the horn button is depressed this supplies a ground to the horn relay which in turn supplies 12DC to the horns.

Rob, Joe, I think what's confusing is that it shows the contactor button below the cancelling cam in the AIM. There's a opening in the cam for the contactor, and this is different on the 64-66 cam.

Rob, Is you cancelling cam installed 180* out?

See the slot with the half moon wall for the button in the pic below (courtesty Zip)....

Correct, that would not work, so AIM is a bit confusing!!!

I got the brushing contact fitted from the steering wheel side, as earlier mentioned by Joe, the depression was a giveaway, just double checking.

        Canceling cam is fitted correctly...
