    Temperture gauge C3

What would make my 1977 L-82 motor spin the temperature guage in a 360 degree mode? This happened for a few minutes . It finally settled down . Had to laugh as I was watching this show!

    Frank,

    It's possessed by Satan!!!!!

Most small gauges have two mechanisms to keep them from jumping around and in your case flying around. First there is a magnet to orient them in the North-South Direction and then there is a dampening fluid to keep them from jumping around when you cross the railroad tracks. Your gauge is getting old and the fluid has been lost along with the magnet not being as strong as it was in 1977.
You need to order a new gauge and it will probably last for another 36 years.

Joe, I have a question, When the fluid damper has lost its fluid, Does this mean the gauges are no longer repairable?

There is a special "gun" to reinstall the silicone fluid in the old air core meters.
