The search for the elusive 7041213 may be over

After an 8 year search for reasonably priced (cheap), rebuildable 7041213 Quadrajet for my '71 4 speed convertible, I managed to find a 7041212 at a swap meet in Stafford Springs CT which I purchased for $30.00. I currently have a Qjet from a late '70's Corvette which I rebuilt and the car seems to run well but I would really prefer a carburetor that was manufactured for the 1971. My question is, what is the difference between the 1213 and 1212 and is there any reason that the 1212 carburetor, after being rebuilt, would not perform just as well on my car as the 1213? The only difference that I can find reading the specs in the overhaul manual is the vacuum break setting is.260 for the automatic and .275 for the 4 speed carb. Any advice or input would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank, Barry

Looking at a Delco carburetor parts list for '73 (carb #'s are 7043212 and 7043213) for the 350 auto and 350 4-speed respectively. 64 parts are listed EVERY single one is identical! Part #'s were only different between 350 and 454's. I don't see where your '71's would be any different. I'm thinking only the setting specs. were different, as you suspected. Good luck!

      Barry,

I have an old Delco carburetor catalog. There are 2 pages dedicated to the 1971 4MV Quadrajet dated Nov. 1970 that list all the parts and it appears that the parts for the 7041212 and 7041213 are the same. If you would like a copy send me a PM with your email address.
