This is my first post on the NCRS community after having just joined this morning. I'm from Western Australia and am looking at buying a 1960 C1 from the US. Obviously it is not practical to inspect a range of vehicles so I am relying upon reputable dealers, photos, etc and prepared to pay a little more for quality. I notice from some of the forum posts that NCRS members sometimes assist by inspecting vehicles located in their local area if a potential buyer can't do it themselves. I have seen a car that interests me at Proteam in Napolean OH and another at Checkered Flag Classics in Gilroy CA - would anyone who lives in those areas and knows a bit about C1s be prepared to assist? Also, any experience with these dealers would be appreciated, as would any tips on getting a car from the US to Western Australia in one piece.ThanksDavid

Re: Aussie looking to buy a C1 from the US
David....Welcome to the group.
What may help is to post the links right here so we can take a virtual peek at them. There are folks around Ohio and around California that can do inspections for you.
Fellow member Jim Gessner(from California) has a second career finding cars for folks all over the world. He's a great resource and knows just about everyone that knows these Corvettes. Drop him a note or give him a call(He's Pacific Standard Time so time it right).......http://vettefinderjim.com/vettefinderjim/Welcome.html

p.s. Gary....fixed your 1960 FS link for you.....here https://www.ncrs.org/classified/index.php?a=2&b=656- Top

Re: Aussie looking to buy a C1 from the US
Hi AllThanks for all your advice - it's been very helpful so far and I have made a few contacts as a result. The vehicles I have been looking at are https://www.proteamcorvette.com/Corv...73D/1073D.html and http://checkeredflagclassics.com/1960_CORVETTE_06.html if anyone has any history - one is said to be an NCRS restoration.I will move this thread to the Corvette Forum as the NCRS moderator wants to keep this site to technical discussions.RegardsDavid- Top

Re: Aussie looking to buy a C1 from the US
Yes I agree. I read that ad several weeks ago when someone else inquired or maybe it was on ebay or somewhere else, I forget. I had to laugh. In my 40+ years of playing with Corvettes, I never heard that expression specifically to Corvettes. I think it was, if any recollection serves me, a term used for Fords or Mopars, or just the drag race scene, I don't know.
Or maybe it was a term I overheard in a Key West restaurant a few years ago when they had a cross dressing convention in town.
David, are you still here?
