What is the best product/source to replace a mid year windshield and not get hit with point deductions? Thx for any leads....

    Anthony,

If you're talking about a new reproduction tinted windshield, I think the answer is all any repro will likely garner a deduct for the tint geometry.

If you want no deduct get a correct brand, properly dated clear windshield. There is a place in Minneapolis that does a nice job. I can't think of their name right now.

          Russ,
I could certainly use a new windshield. And the company in MN sounds like it would be a good one. If you can come up with there name/number or any body else knows of them I would like to know it. Or even another company that can furnish a proper clear windshield.
          Thanks Jack

Auto City's tint geometry doesn't look correct to me. Per their website's photo, the tint band seems to go straight across, rather than increasing its depth toward the windshield posts. Has anyone actually gone through judging with this product? What were the deductions taken?

                    Brian,

No repro's tint geometry is correct. That's the reason for buying a non-tinted windshield for those wishing to receive no deductions.

Brian, Their tint geometry isn't correct. No ones is. That's why I stated that if you want a no deduct you have to get a clear windshield.

A clear windshield only works when there is no tint on the other windows though, correct? If RPO A01 is in effect on the sides and back, I don't believe a clear windshield would be considered legit. That's the difficulty I'm running into; my windshield is an off-brand replacement and I have tint on the others.

So I swapped it with a clear windshield and the deduct fell down to 2-3 points. The Exterior boys didn't like the config of the LOF logo on my clear windshield. And yes, I do not have side glass tinted so I could get away with a non-tinted windshield.

                              Brian -

That's correct - you have to have a tinted windshield, and nobody makes one that won't get a deduction for the geometry of the tint band.
