I am in need of opinions on what to expect at Nationals? My car has done 3 regionals scoring 96-98% I am working to make some corrections but it seems no matter what I fix... more deducts are found. I do not want o waste the judges time by not being prepared and having the car set to score well. At what point are you ready for the next big step? I plan to make my first run at PV over the winter but need to be ready for nationals. Any advice? I am registered for nationals but am having second thoughts after last regionals.
when are you ready for nationals?

strange I should be advising you given you have been in the game 30 years, and me five, but from my experience, if you are averaging 97 over three recent Regionals, you are going to score roughly the same at a National meet. Or maybe better. Generally the judges are the same experience level. This does not mean your line by line scores will be identical, but with an average of 97, all your big issues are in good shape. I would not sweat it, unless your goal is a 100% perfect car. That cannot happen. Go over your OPS list, and make sure everything is working. You will come out of the meet fine. Nationals are great events that you will enjoy a lot. Have a great time in the hobby! Enjoy!- Top

Re: when are you ready for nationals?
Ron,
A 96% to 98% is a 90 point variation. There has to be a lot of common point deducts from all the events. My guess is 65 to 70 points are common. The remainder is a judges personal knowledge difference. I suggest you rectify the common issues as that is the stuff that you and the judges should or will key on. When looking to make changes apply the CDCIF judging in your evaluation of said corrections.- Top
