    Front Coil Springs C2

Was a 9 coil front spring used on a C2 vette? The ones I originally took off my 67 327-300 w/ AC & PS were 12 coil. The 2 sets of replacement springs I have tried are also 12 coil, but settle down to the top of the 7/8 in. whitewall on my 205-75-15 tires with the rally wheels. The car looks like it was intentionally lowered in the front.. The stock bolts on the rear suspension are adjusted as far as possible to obtain lowering of the back of the car. A friend gave me a set of 9 coil springs which measure 1" longer than the stock 67 springs when unsprung. I'm probably going to try these springs to get he front up some. The friend said they were in his 67 no-option car when he purchased it, but the front of the car sat about 1" higher than he liked, so he put BB springs in the car to lower it. I see LICS is listing USA made spring / the correct diameter wire & load and are advertised to sit at the right height when installed. Anyone purchased or tried the LICS springs with good results? Any help/suggestions appreciated. I know this has been beat to death in previous threads.

The springs for most 1964-67 Corvettes were 12 coils. However, 1966-67 big blocks with C-60 may have used springs of 9 coils.

As a FYI - I have done some research into front springs for my 66 L79/with air - I pulled original springs out - 12 coil with a green tag ED which according to my old' GM Parts book is a 3851100 (base spring)I also determined a 3888251 is a 10 coil (higher rate spring) for 427 and also for Air' cars. (the parts manual is not real clear on this point - to me)A company I worked with in KS says the 10 coil spring is for the 427 and special suspension option - fyi.

The GM #3888251 spring was used for 1966-67 Corvettes with 427 and A/C. By my count (I have an NOS pair)[not for sale], I count 9 coils but I suppose someone else might count 10. 1966-67 Corvettes with 427 and without A/C used spring GM #3888250. I don't have coil count on this spring.

1963-71 Corvettes with HD suspension used spring GM #3832518. By my count (I have many NOS examples of these)[none for sale], I count 7 coils.

The 3888251 has 9 coils [taken from NOS example with green tag] (my definition of coil as from the start to end of the wire). P&A catalog says 1580 lbs spring rate.

The 3888250 has 10 coils [NOS example with yellow-ish tag]. Catalog says 2250 lbs. thumbnail below.

The F40/41 3832518 has 7 coils; catalog says 2344 lbs.

The standard 3851100 has 12 coils ; catalog says 1340 lbs.

One really needs (also) the wire diameter and the free height to really determine how a car will sit/run with these springs installed.
