Does anyone know if the gasket on a 1970 350/350 oil cap is replaceable? Mine is leaking oil onto the valve cover and since the cap is original, I would like to replace just the rubber gasket if possible.

I believe the gasket is cellulosic (i.e. "cardboard") and not rubber. If it were rubber, you probably could replace it by stretching it on. However, cellulosic material does not stretch very well.In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Re: 1970 Oil Cap
Joe, Thanks for the reply.
Mine is definitely rubber, although the cap has all the right markings, maybe it isn't original after all. Have had it judged numerous times with no comment regarding the gasket.Web Master Miami Valley Chapter 2010 to present
