I have two issues with my garnish molding. First it just does not seem to fit real well. I noticed this before I replaced the headliner and thought I would be able to make this better but after putting the headliner in I have the same issue. This picture below is of the top of the trim that goes around the top of the windshield at the drivers side of the car. Just as it meets the molding over the door. It just does not fit real well. Also the screw at the top of the molding does not have anything to screw into? Is there supposed to be a "J" nut or something for this screw to fasten to? Both sides of the car are like this. I did not notice anything unusual when I removed the old headliner. The old headliner was not the original piece. It appeared to be some non original looking aftermarket piece. Any help is appreciated.ThanksLawrenceTop of trim.jpg

Re: Garnish molding poor fit 67 Coupe
Lawrence,The side molding above at the top of the door opening is designed to slide into and interlock with the header molding. You have the header molding sitting on top of the side molding. Also, there are two built in clips that are part of the birdcage above the door that the side molding also has to lock in with. As for the screw, it should grab on to the "bird cage" above the door.- Top

Re: Garnish molding poor fit 67 Coupe
Looked at my molding again. It is installed right it just does not fit tight and flush. I don't know if through the years if it has been warped or what. I don't have another coupe to compare to. I know that parts of my molding have been somewhat "man handled" Where the sun visor fasteners mount the holes through the molding have been slightly oblonged. Are these moldings the same from 63 - 67? I found the hole in the bird cage for the fastener closest to your head. It was just not straight through the molding hole. More forward. The driver's side molding fits better than the passenger.
Thanks
