    Re: '63 Tie-Rod Clamps

    Hi,

I am interested in knowing which is the "correct" tie-rod clamp for my early (Dec. '62) convertible.

In the attached picture - the clamp on the left is the repro with twin ridges, and the one are the right is the one originally on the car (single ridge in middle).

I know sometimes there are differences with the early '63's and just making sure this isn't one of them.

    Thanks for any responses.

The 2 ridge clamp is the original style for 1963 through at least 1972 known as GM #3742920 through about 1966 and GM #3902938 from 1967 through at least 1972. The single rib style was GM #3954397 and used after 1972 in PRODUCTION and later for all 1963+ SERVICE.

      Joe,

Thanks for the response - the single ridge clamp sure looks a lot sturdier than the repro - even the nuts on the clamp bolts are thicker!
