Hi guys; I performed my own oil change with filter today, on my 66 big block. In Canada, oil is sold in liter (metric) volume & I performed the oil change with six liters, which is exactly 6.3 US quarts. I realized the error after the fact. Will the extra 1/3rd quart of oil damage the 427 in any way ? Should I dump it and start over - or am I worrying for nothing....? Thank you in advance!

I don't think the extra 0.3 quart is going to cause any problems, at all.In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Re: Too much oil in 427?
Above are all good answers to your question. During the 1960's and 1970's I often ran an extra quart over FULL in my cars to make sure it had plenty of oil for those "late night 1/4 mile runs". Never had any issues.

Re: Too much oil in 427?
David,
I believe it was Clem Z. posted on here a while back that 427 are a bit slow draining the oil back to the pan when run hard. He recommended running them one quart over full. I would say you need to add 2/3 of a quart.I plan to run my 427 a quart over.
