New to me LS-5 70!! General Service advice

    Hello all. New excited owner!!!

I have no manuals or anything yet for C-3's but i want to start putting together a full list of the general service items I want to do to the car.

History that I have was that the car had a frame off in the late 80's. Motor was rebuilt professionally and seems like it runs good but needs general tune up.

My main questions revolve around how to service an older restoration and the best approach to correct additives and supplies to use.

    Example.

Changing oil in a 454, what oil do they like and for an older restoration engine should I use the Brad Penn types with high content Zinc or just a good oil from local auto story??

    Rear diff lube?

Just a general list of all the things you would do if you just picking the car up and it has mostly sat for over a year.

    Thanks

    Hi Don,

Congrats on your new baby! On your oil question, I would say that API CJ-4 oil is what you need. Shell Rotella T is one option, it's available at Wal-Mart, for instance. Here's an article on oil written by Duke that will help you (scroll down to page 3):

        Hello Don

Really nice car you have there, also a great color.

I have a 1970 with 454/390HP AC car too (but coupe). (but the AC is long gone , thrown away some time in the past).

Regards and good luck with the new addition.

          Hi Donald,
Very nice looking 70 in your pictures!!! Good Luck with it!
Besides the AIM and the TIM&JG that have been mentioned I also suggest you consider buying the GM 1970 Chassis Service Manual.
I think you'll find a tremendous amount of useful information in it.
          The NCRS store sells them.
          Regards,
          Alan
