C1 Fuel Injection dipstick tube orientation

Can anyone describe or post a photo of the correct dipstick tube orientation on a fuel injected car? I understand that it was rotated 45 degrees "clockwise" to avoid interference with the air cleaner assembly. I take this to mean towards the rear of the car.

Keith, Not sure about 58/60, but 62 was closer to 90 deg as per 62 Assy Manual Section 582, sheet 5. My 62 is an early s/n Nov build & is exactly as shown in Assy Manual. They say "Install dipstick tube with plane of bend parallel to center line of Crankshaft". It is sometimes a little hard to get the dipstick out as you are pulling toward the firewall hood latch. Good Luck

Thanks Barry. So yours is facing forward then? Good idea to consult the AIM. I'll check the '60 to see if it specifies the orientation.

Sure enough. The '60 AIM says the same thing. The tube is aligned parallel to the crank centerline facing the dash. Thanks.

Keith, The dipstick tube faces the firewall, (backwards), when you remove the dipstick you pull it toward the firewall mounted stationary hood latch.
