Several uses later I figure that there must be an art to using one, but I'm not an artist.
Before I purchased the Motive product I had learned about others have issues getting the adapter to seal on the master cylinder. The new adapters they sell that fit vintage Corvettes are made of metal where the older ones were originally plastic. I picked up a C clamp at the hardware store that opens wide enough and it worked great. Plenty of space for the C clamp on the in board side of the master cylinder.

Frank, you said that the car pulled right when braking. This means the left front hose has failed. While you can get by OK with replacing one caliper, you should always replace both or all hoses. The fact that the pedal moves slowly to the floor with the motor running is a different issue. As other have mentioned, it means that the MC is bad. The fluid is leaking internally past the seals. This is pretty common.

Same approach here with the Motive Bleeder, I used a large C-clamp to hold the adapter in place.
