Stand back so you can see the forest and not the trees. You have obviously been chopping down a lot of trees.
For an engine to run it must have, compression, fuel and air, and fire, all at the right time. Go basic and try to isolate which is not occurring. First compression, then fire at the correct time, then fuel. When you get the compression and fire, use a squirt bottle and inject fuel into the plenum. Do not use starting either.- Top

Jeff, when you installed the Opti, did it slide in easily and flush with the block? It's hard to get that larger spline key incorrect but I've heard of guys using the attaching screws to try and pull the Opti flush with the block.
Yes, you can rule out the PASS key, If there's a situation with that and the key pellets, the starter enable relay won't ground and the engine won't crank at all.
I would try the squirt bottle thing with just a little fuel thru the throttlebody.
I'd also pull more plugs. You have spark on one but if you aren't getting spark on others, they should be damp/wet if the injectors are working correctly. They should be with that rail pressure but the node light only indicates that the injector solenoid is working.
Also, did you have a no start condition with the old Opti?- Top

I agree. My suspicion is that the problem lies with the new distributor or its installation. Are you sure that you installed the correct distributor? 92-94 Optisparks use a spline drive; 95-96 Optisparks use a paddle drive. I would not think it would be possible to install an incorrect distributor and the differences would be obvious to the installer. However, stranger things have happened. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

First, the car did start with the old opti. I saved it and I'm considering reinstalling it but it such a hassle to get the water pump off etc. I did get the right opti, its a spline drive specific for a '92 and I was careful to install it such that it was flush with the block prior to bolting it down. So I'm 99%+ sure it was installed right. There should be no timing issue, right, because that's the uniqueness of the opti design as I understand it the rotating disc and optical sensor are designed to gauge piston position (probably too simple of an explanation but I think the concept in general is correct)?
I"ll check for spark on a couple of other plugs and also pull a few plugs. Thanks for the info. Should I pull the SIR fuse and then try starting it or even disable it according to the FSM manual procedure or would this jus be a waste of time?
