Man, in 6 hours there's already been 125 orders! (I'm number 125). If this continues, you guys doing the leg work are going to be doing nothing else for the next few years!

Re: Shipping Data Reports for Camaro, Chevelle and Nova

I noticed on some of the Camaro Discussion Boards that many are confused on the "Production Date" Maybe Roy or John Hinckley can explain this
again. How accurate is the production date? I thought I heard that GM signed something and handed the car to a "buyoff" division or something like that.
What exactly does the production date mean?
Please Adv. when you get a chance.--Thanks-Larry

                      Larry,

Two different animals is the confusion. The Production date in all cases is the day GM released the car from production, its final day the day it rolled of the production line complete.
The problem with Camaro, Chevelle and Nova guys is they are looking at the cowl tag which is the day I believe the body was tagged in its production at Fischer body not the production date of the car. Very similar to the AO Smith body situation in a Corvette, the date on AO Smith tags is usually some distance before the actual production date where as on St Louis body it is very close to the actual production date. Camaro Chevelle and Nova bodies were built in nearby Fischer body facilities and had to be moved to the assembly plants. I'm sure John H can answer this better and more precisely than I but that is my understanding .

Wow, the guys on the Supercar site are going crazy with the new information available. Can you imagine if you have a 1969 COPO Camaro sold from Berger Chevrolet and now you have verification that it was in fact delivered there? This is great news for many owners of rare cars.
