    Temperature Gauge Problem

I'm chasing a temperature gauge gremlin in a 66. The gauge has been restored, the car has a new wiring harness throughout and a new temperature sending unit. The gauge worked fine for several months and then started to move erratic back and forth and now it stay buried on the hot side of the gauge. Any thoughts on this problem?

    Re: Temperature Gauge Problem

Staying buried on the hot side is a sign that the gage is not grounded. There are two studs on the back of the gage besides the studs that hold the terminals. One stud goes through the insulater that the terminal holdings studs also penetrate. The other studs is supposed to be grounded by contact with the gage cluster housing. Touch a known good ground to that stud and see if it puts the gage back to a reasonable reading.
