Well, My brother's car is back on the road again.Took my 90 year old mother for the first "official" ride on Easter Sunday. It was sunny but cool as we had the top down. She bundled up with a winter coat and hat and I turned the heat on.Made it around a local loop and back with no major issues.I did some clutch adjustments and then took my wife around. That went well so then took my son and then my daughter around.Still tweaking things a bit but all in all a fun day.I want to thank all of you that contributed to my success in restoring this tribute car.I certainly could not have do it without the NCRS web site and all of your help.

Re: On the road again
David,
I've followed your restoration and rebuild from the beginning, and recall the sincere tribute you vowed to complete for Pete.
Congratulations on a great job. Every time you drive alone in the car, you won't be alone......Pete will be with you in the passenger seat smiling at you for what you've accomplished.

Congratulations on the completion of the restoration. I hope to see you somewhere driving around Maine. If you see a red 54 it will most likely be me.- Top

Re: On the road again
Thank you all again for the part that you played in my accomplishing this project. It turned into a very memorable and sometimes frustrating endeavor. In the long run tho, very rewarding as I am sure Peter would be pleased with it. I have driven it now a few times and the more I drive it the more comfortable I get behind the wheel. She is a beast, but runs well and gits up and goes when prodded. She is headed to the alignment shop next week to be put straight. I still have some tweaking to do but all minor things that will not keep me from driving it. Tonight I tackled the gas gauge not working. Removed the tank cover without ruining it then removed the sending unit. Connected it outside the tank and grounded it to the battery. Then worked the float and the gauge worked perfectly. Hmmmm, ok, so it works outside the tank but not inside. Removed the brass float and examined it and found a nice little crack in the brass. Not at the seam, but in the actual brass material. It worked when I first put it in, but eventually stopped working. The sending unit was brand new when I installed it. Go figure! Just my luck on this car. But very fixable and the gauge will work. I installed a second ground wire to it as suggested here while I was in there so wont have to worry about that down the road.I have been trying for two days now to upload pictures without any success. I get to the upload step and it just sits there spinning the little black thing in the upper right corner. Not sure what is wrong because I have uploaded pictures before. Something has change somewhere. Will keep trying as I really want you to see the car. Thanks again everyone.- Top

I too have enjoyed your tribute restoration journey and this thread. Another option for posting pictures might be to get a free Photobucket account. The bonus is that the NCRS server size limitations don't apply.
