Well I installed my 56 gas tank in my 54 but there is no way the straps will work, just too tight. It sits in there ok but the neck doesnt quite line up but enough to make a connection. Any suggestion on how to secure it or I just need to get creative. Thanks again!

Re: 54 gas tank issue
I post a few pics soon. My solution is to use a 4 inch 5/16 bolt. The standing seam on the tank is at the bolt locations. I used a 2 or 3 inch thick piece of metal about 1/8 thick and drilled a hole for the bolt. It'll snag that seam as its pretty stout too. I hooked the other stuff up on the tank as its tight anyway. Then easyly snug down the bolts. There is no way those straps will work on this tank. It wont go anywhere in my opinion.- Top

Re: 54 gas tank issue
Guy
It will fit
I have one in my car
The bottom flange - you will have to roll it - roll it over hard...- I used 2x4 and a BFH
It will fit
You may have to use a longer top bolt -
The connection will work too....1954 Corvette #3803 - Top Flight 2012, Bloomington Gold 2012,

Re: 54 gas tank issue
This is what I ended up with. The pry bars to mone the tank almost punched thru the glass. This is really tight and it wont go anywhere. Not to spec as much as I want it to but it will work. It wont go anywheregas tank 005.jpggas tank 003.jpggas tank 001.jpg- Top
