    1967 Tri-Power

    Hello Everyone:

Was wondering if I could get some feedback on two minor questions:

    1. On the 67 Tri-Power 400 set up, do the attaching nuts that bolt the carbs to the manifold have washers, and if so, what kind of washers are they?

    2. Also, what is the torque spec?

    Thanks very much!

My answer will not pass judging but my carb bolts have the thin SS washers that hide under the nuts. That keeps the nut from digging in to the carb when being turned & keeps the torque even.
The torque will change (loosen) as the gaskets take a set. Just don't initially over tighten when you install them and chech them about 3 times after each time the engine gets to temp.

      Thanks Dom

The car presently has no washers. It seems to warrant washers given the potential to have to adjust/tighten frequently....I assume the torque spec is 7 or 8 foot pounds?

      Thanks.

        Salvatore,
That sounds about right (torque). I hide a lot of washers that are SS under fasteners, the washer diameter is small and the hole is exactly correct. I get them from a aircraft supply and they are either thick or thin and come in either SS or steel.
They also work great under intake manifold bolts especially with aluminum manifolds.

I like to use the torque specs given in the AIM. I would help you out, but I don't own a 1967 AIM.

84-120 lbs-in (inch pounds) for carb nuts or bolts according to 67 AIM

I use a 1/4" drive ratchet and use only my index finger to tighten it. That has always worked, no leaks and better yet, no warped base plate.

Thanks you all for the feedback...feel dumb since in the AIM per original there are no washers and torque spec is outlined...duh...
