    Note on gas tank cover

The attached picture is of a pencil written note on the inside of the gas tank cover on my 57.
I think the number 433 might be the job number but the 2 names seem strange.
The names appear to be Nancy Rogers & Gordon Monach (?).
I have friends who worked at the GM Norwood plant and regularly left notes in cars.
The car was originally delivered to CA. and came to Dayton, Ohio in 1966.
    Any thoughts?
    Bruce B

Bruce, checking whitepages.com there are a very few 65+ and unknown age Nancy Rogers in the STL area. I did not find Gordon Monach. 'Might try obits in the area. I have contacted an old HS friend in the STL area and asked him to check. I will let you know if Jim finds anything. Good Luck! Steve p.s., I have to remove my hardtop and check mine.

      Bruce,
Here is another note from someone to another farther down the line. This is on the underside of the hardtop headliner on my 70.PC121518.JPG

        Mike,
I'm sure there are many interesting notes written in cars.
        Thanks for yours.

This seems an appropriate place to tell the story of a spare tire (1968 or 1969 as I remember) that was dropped on the nice green grass of St Charles Illinois for the first time int he car's history. In yellow grease pencil on the top of the tire was F*** YOU. All judging stopped as every one gathered around to yuck it up and take pictures

Yes there are a lot of writings on the cars. Mike is that on the underside of the removeable top panels?

            Bruce,

I found a piece of paper lining the dash pad with a partial VIN and the name of the original owner. I was then able to eventually track him down. He was pretty amazed the car was still around and I learned some very interesting things about its history!

            Good luck solving the mystery,

No note in my 67, but found a paper GM coffee cup under the dash when I installed the air in my car.

For years I've had the habit of scribing my ititials and the date on the backs of replacement parts or panels if I've taken an interior apart. I often wonder if they'll be found in the future and what will be thought of the additions.

I'm not sure how you do that, nor am I sure it's a pretty sight. Mug-welding!

Mike I am horrified. A mug of beast to put out a fire? What a waste.

Brian Pierce and I use Diet Dr. Pepper. Nothing but the best for us. Save the beast for consumption. Remember Brian's melted shoe?
