Hi, is there a quick check with radio out of car why the seek bar continues to seek(When pushed) until radio is turned off? radio has been restored several years ago but never seeked that well, everything else works great. can you hook battery up to these directly to check on bench(procedure) Thank you.

Re: 58-59 Wonderbar
Brad, yes you can do a bench test, but chances are internally the solenoid or relay drive circuit inside is at fault. I went through this a while ago on a WB on a '60. No WB action at all. The solenoid was bad and I couldn't find one anywhere. A weak coil and it probably was internally shorted windings.
You can open the radio and clean the relay contacts, but typically the solenoid is at fault. Jerry Rudbeck filled me in on that info some time ago. The solenoids and relays are unavailable new and unique to the WB. Only used are available and in short supply.
Jerry may have some used parts or could repair if you decided. I highly recommend him. He's a member here and can be reached via his WS too........
A bench test requires a good battery, a fuse to the power input(yellow IIRC but check to be sure), and ground the radio chassis/case, connect your speaker and antenna. Hassle is getting the speaker and antenna on the bench too.

Re: 58-59 Wonderbar
For reference and rethinking this after Jim's comment above, I think Jim nailed it.......
My WB in my '59 does a constant seek and wraps back to the start and seeks again and again when it's in the garage with no signal. When I have good signal riding around it seeks and stops at a station with good reception.
Brad, verify you have a good strong station nearby and test it again before you tear it apart. It may be fine.

p.s. I have no idea what the no seek deduct is, but before I got my car judged I had a constant seek at home just like your issue. When I did the OPs test at the Regional and got to the radio I figured I'd loose points for no seek/stop. In Kissimmee there must've been very strong signals. I tested the seek function and it stopped at a station, strong signal and sound, and several more immediately. Kept hitting the bar and even went to the end and started again and seeked the next station. No deducts.- Top
