Eric, is it the Def Pull and Fan switch assembly?

They make a pretty nice repro now, but not with the exact same type resistor, etc.

I recently repaired/restored an original on a '61 that had bad contacts and loose rivets. Works like a charm now.

Eric, I got the impression you said the switch, using the knob, won't turn. If so, the switch has to come apart and is either jammed inside or dirty or a broken contact inside. In order to take it apart, the rivets must be removed, either by grinding the ends or by "un-peening" the crushed end. The shaft which turns is flat sided. Inside the switch is a fiber disk which rotates and makes contact to the 3 brass terminals inside the switch. That disk contains the contactor, and connects 12v to either the motor brown lead wire directly for high fan or the other contact which goes to the resistor to provide low fan speed.

If that shaft isn't turning it's either seized inside the housing, or the housing is seized inside the switch shaft bushing. I would remove the switch from the console, take it to the bench for a better view of the problem. You may be able to free it up with some penetrating cleaner, like contact cleaner or alchohol. Maybe a touch of WD40 or CRC Powerlube....not too much. You don't want oily residue inside the electrical portion of the switch.

If the switch doesn't turn, of course the fan will never work. You can test the fan by connecting the Brown lead wire to a +12v source, and ensure the motor case is grounded. Motor gets it's ground via the Temperature control cable casing, which gets it's ground from the clock console plate, via a Black wire in the harness.
