Paint line on air cleaner base

The new JM for 68-69 on page 55 shows and explains the hang point for painting of the air cleaner base. The picture shows a rather wide bald mark. As on my base, I thought the hangar would leave a rather narrow mark. Mine appears to have hung with smaller hangar leaving a much smaller mark and a corresponding even smaller spot on the back side. I saw yours on that other thread and it got me curious. Yours has that same little mark by the hose outlet, but then has that broad mark that's missing on mine. Anybody have any more pictures of an original? They may have had different methods of panting.

Do you have a picture of your carb choke pull-off? Is your car a late or early VIN? I am trying to determine when that duck-bill style happened for 68 BB 390hp with A/C.
