    67 Replacing upper A-Arms

I started out just replacing the bushings and ball joints, but the upper arms are really nasty with lots of rust and pitting. I just ordered new arms from LIC. Their price was significantly less that the other major suppliers. I am always concerned with quality and correctness when there is a big price difference, e.g. $120 each from LIC versus $165 to $180 from other major suppliers.

Anyone here used the repro A-Arms from LIC? If so, any issues?

    Thanks,

    Don

    Don,

Mine were in very bad shape too. If you want to take the time you can probably make them look very good. Build up the several coats of epoxy primer then fill the really bad pitting with a small amount of glazing putty. Here are some before and after photos of mine.

Mike, yours turned out great. But I'm trying to get my front suspension back together so that I can enjoy the car in the nice spring weather. I've spent most of a day sanding and wire brushing one of the A-Arms. Mine have some really heavy pitting. So I'm going to replace them.

Just trying to find out if there are any issues with the LIC reproductions?

      Thanks,

It's hard to imagine that there is more than one manufacturing source for these a-arms. The cost of tooling to produce them would be quite large. I believe all of the reproductions are sourced from China and commissioned by America's Finest Corvettes of Ramona, CA.

There are lots of good used a-arms out there. 1963-82 upper arms are all the same.

There's a nice looking pair, including cross shafts, on Ebay right now for $120. Why rely on Chinese tooling for your suspension?

Because you don't know what is under the paint.
